William H. Weare, Jr.

William earned a BA in English and History from the University of Massachusetts at Boston in 1988, a BFA with a concentration in Painting from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1999, and an MA in Library and Information Science from the University of Iowa in 2004. He is currently completing a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Nonprofit Management through the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University.

William is the Access Services Librarian at the Christopher Center for Library & Information Resources at Valparaiso University. In addition to overseeing circulation, he participates in the reference & instruction programs, and he does collection development for art, education, & English.

Prior to joining the faculty at Valparaiso, William was the Collection Development Librarian at Central College in Pella, Iowa. While earning his degree in Library and Information Science, William managed circulation and reserves at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. He has also worked as a staff member at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, first in the Mathematics Library and later at Central Circulation in the Main Library, and at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in the Cataloging and Order Departments.

William was selected to participate in the American Library Association Emerging Leaders Program (2008); he was also a 2008 Summer Fellow of the Peabody Professional Institute for Academic Library Leadership at Vanderbilt University.
