____Natural law legal philosophy conspicuously underlies the Declaration of Independence and the entire American legal experiment. In 1981 VU School of Law sought to distinguish itself with the claim that it provided a "value oriented legal education".
____Professor John Potts began teaching here that fall. Previously, he worked six years in Albuquerque, New Mexico – four years in a law firm, and before that two years in the tax department of the largest public accounting firm in the world, where he became a Senior Tax Specialist. Both were in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
____Professor Potts teaches primarily federal income taxation, but has taught widely outside the tax area. Primarily a tax scholar, he has also written on legal process.
____Professor Potts has been a frequent law reform speaker. A former member of the Board of Directors of Indiana Right to Life, he received the Stinchfield Memorial Award from Porter County Right to Life for outstanding contribution to law reform efforts. He is the faculty founder of Jus Vitae, the prolife law student organization, and currently serves as Faculty Advisor to two law student organizations, The Federalist Society at VULS, and Valpo Law Republicans.
