Study Guide Principles of Public Relations
Covers: "Festival of Voices" Manual, student guide to public relations, Commission article by co-chairs (C1) and article on "10 Ways" (C2). Journal entries, news releases, fact sheets, and all lecture/discussion material will be included.
- Do you know all the material from the FOV manual that relates to your team assignment? If anyone has any doubts, please see me immediately.
- What are the basic assumptions for the "Festival of Voices," the guidelines that direct the type of event to be produced? There are at least three basic tenets.
- What have we learned about fund raising? What are some of the techniques/approaches? How does one work with the process of fund raising?
- Take your major area of study and relate the experiences in this class to how these skills/ideas will assist you in your future career.
- How are we building "awareness" of the "Festival of Voices"?
- Can you build an organizational chart for this effort? Do you know who is in charge? What groups exist? Build the chart and then discuss the relationships among these people and groups: what responsibilities and activities occur.
- What is service learning vs. volunteerism and community service? Compare and contrast the three.
- Analyze the homeless shelter in terms of its unique population. How does this help you to work on this project? What appeals are unique to this population?
- What are some of the improvements for this year’s FOV (consult manual)?
- Analyze the following for you: a) your contributions, b) your attitudes, c) your level of responsibility you have taken up to this point.
- What is the talent selected so far? Analyze each for meeting the goals of FOV.
