Community relations:

                    1. What are some of the reasons offered for having community relations?

2. Why should community relations be for all organizations (not just corporate)?                     3. What are the various stages in community relations development? 4. What is Mel Sharpe's philosophy about community relations? How does Sharpe describe community relations?

5. What are the pressure points upon an organization that suggest community relations is a good idea?

                    6. How does one define community in regard to the role of technology? 7. Discuss how little community relations is talked about as phases. What is the value of this perspective? Legal and cultural considerations: 1. E7 Discuss how ablebodied and disabled persons should communicate with each other.                     2. E7 What is a TAB? (page 41) 3. E8 What are the three reasons to target "people with special needs"?

4. E9 How has Latina magazine managed to capture the magic of America's Hispanic culture?

5. E10 Know your audience--how does this apply to the young hispanics? What do they like in their messages?

8. E13, 14, 15 What do these articles say about the African-American population? What is the role of public relations for this group?

10. E18, 19, 20,21, 22 These articles focus on a number of special populations? What concerns and how well is public relations reaching these groups?

Environs (free lancing, government, non-profits, corporations, agency):

                    1. F1 What are the issues when considerting free lancing?

2. F2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7 (What is the role of public relations in government? What specific concepts did you learn about the role of public relations in this context?

3. F8 through 20 What is the unique charactersitcs of public relations in the nonprofit context? Be able to idenitfy any one of the topics discussed and develop how the public relations profession addressed the opportunities, problems, or issues.

4. F 21 through 47 How does corporate differ from nonprofit? Be able to identify any topic covered in this list and discuss the role of public relations.

5. F 48-55 What is the role of an agency? How does an agency oeprate in comparisoin to the other contexts described above. Be able to discuss how any of the topics reflected the unique role of agency public relations.

Execution (visual, written, verbal) assessment: 1. G1-34 As you review the many skills needed in public relations, what is your reaction to this section?

--What article was the most useful?

--How do these ideas help you?

2. What is a communication audit? What is the usefulness of knowing how an audit is conducted?

Indeed you accomplished much this semester. Most notably is how you were involved with the "Festival of Voices." 1. You have spent much time documenting your activity, analyzing your efforts, and evaluating the final product. Why doe one need to do this?                     2. Describe specifically why FOV is such a success this year. 3. What does your role in FOV say about you? Your interpersonal skills? Your communication skills? Your organizational skills? You ability to work over a long period of time? Be as detailed as possible in the final exam. Nothing works better that to 1) read the material and 2) think about the material before coming to the exam.
