Dick and Jane in the 1950s, continued

The 1956 edition of the Dick and Jane reader, The New Our Friends, opens with Dick and Jane wondering who will live in the new house next door. Puzzled by the toy horse, which they associate with boys, and the dolls, which they associate with girls, being moved in, they experience a big surprise upon meeting the apparently male twins.
